Well the two month vacation is over and it's back to the blog world.

You would think in two months without anyone on his back the President would have straightened out this Iraq thing. Apparently not.

Now we know there are no Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. Must be everyone else has borrowed them. We also have an admission that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Surprise! It must have been someone else. And the elected government Iraq was going to have in six months, isn't. Seems the only people who can put together a bona fide election are busy showing us how it's done in California.

When they get done there they can take that circus to Bagdad to entertain the troops. More fun tomorrow.

All of the speculation is on the governor's race in California today. Ariana Huffington is entering the race. Thinks she has to do something to keep her name in front of the public, otherwise it's hard to figure out who she is, what she does or why we should care. Arnold Schwarzenner is trying to decide if there is the physical room to print his name on the ballot before he tries a remake of the Ronald Reagan series. Jerry Springer made the mistake of not moving his show to California so he's running for Senator from Ohio.

At some point we can hope that a stray voter might want to ask what these people know about delivering services, balancing budgets or solving problems but until then the rest of us will have to try and figure out if we're watching a comedy or a tragedy and whether the entertainment is worth the money we're going to be paying for it.

Having started a recall against Governor Gray Davis the Conservative-Republican Party in California wants to complete the circus by running "Terminator" actor Arnold Schwartzenneger to replace him.

Personally, not being a Californian I haven't a clue as to whether Davis is good, bad or incompetent, but whatever he is or whatever he's done, a quick look around the country will tell you he has lots of company in governors mansions across the nation so I don't believe he got into this mess all by himself.

However if I accept the premise that the recall of an ineffective politician idea does have merit and based upon the logic that incompetence at the top should be recalled, I should be able to logically assume that the Conservative-Republican Party in California will shortly be moving to recall President George W. Bush and replace him with a flying pig................ Yes, they believe in that too.

We have troops in Afghanistan. We have troops in Iraq. We had troops in Liberia. We have troops in Korea. We might send troops to Haiti. Again. Seems like we have a lot more places to fill than we have people to fill them and as soon as we arrive there's always a committee waiting to tell us to go home.

Personally, if we're going to occupy someplace I'd at least like to see us send our troops to some place where the people would be glad to see them, be willing to pay for their presence and ask them to stick around for a while..... How about we send them to the United States for a change?

Congress has finally gotten around to completing their report on the 9/11 tragedy and it makes for interesting reading. The main point of the investigation is that the FBI and CIA missed opportunities and did not act quickly or decisively in dealing with terrorism prior to 9/11. In effect what they are saying is that "somebody missed something".

Hello. When it comes to missed opportunities, procrastination and indecision the US Congress should know. They wrote the manual. After all it took them two years just to figure out that "somebody missed something" while the rest of us had figured that out in the first five minutes . And they did it in under 900 pages.

It appears the 101st got Uday and Qusay Hussein in an ambush in Iraq .

Speculation is that with them out of the way some of the attacks on American troops will cease. That's probably wishful thinking, but even if it doesn't diminish the attacks the world is still a better place without the two of them in it.

Unfortunately, I'm reminded of the old Emerson quote, "When you strike at a King, you must kill him" and until we have Saddam's head on a pike I'm afraid it ain't near begun to be over......... But it helps.

Ever notice when the new "big" company comes to town to 'save the community" amidst parades and fanfare they only stay about ten years and then leave the countryside dotted with empty buildings while they move on to greener pastures. Ever wonder why?

It's tax incentives from state and local government that got them to come. When the incentives run out, so do they leaving the employees, taxpayers and community who thought they were investing in their own future holding the empty bag.

Some call it corporate welfare. Others call it "playing the game by the rules they wrote for themselves". Karl Marx would call it "Compassionate Conservative Corporate Communism for Capitalists".

Jessica Lynch comes home to join the ranks of Sgt. York and Audie Murphy today. Though she appears not to have shot anyone or saved anyone or captured anyone and has become famous by instead being captured herself I would argue that she still deserves her accolades. She volunteeered, put in her time, put up a fight and did her unit and her gender proud, which is more than I can say for the politician that sent her.

Remember that big meeting the Vice President had just after the Presidential Appointment that was supposed to deal with developing a National Energy Policy to decide where our energy of the future will come from. Remember the one that the VP refused to talk about or give us a list of the attendees. You know the one prior to 911 and the war. Well, we still don't have the list, but we do have some of the documents through the "Freedom of Information Act". And they are.....?

Surprise!!!
Maps of Iraq. Will wonders never cease.

In our zeal at the heighth of the UN debate over the Iraq War we dumped French Fries for Freedom Fries, French Toast for Freedom Toast and French's Mustard went so far as to tell all of us they weren't French.

Now that things are going bad in Iraq, our troops are not coming home on time and more are being sent what does the administration say we need?

You got it.............................French troops.
