"The Donald" as Donald Trump likes to call himself is running around New York City firing young apprentices in front of the tv cameras as an abject lesson in how to be as successful as "The Donald is. His name, according to him, is synonymous with big business and big wealth and success.

He fails to mention the airline with his name on it that he flew into the ground in the 90's, the Atlantic City casino's with his name on them that almost went under about the same time and are about to go under again. Nor does he mention the bankers and investors who haven't fired him because they're financially in so deep they will go under with him.

So if you want to learn the real lesson of how to make money by "The Donalds" rules, ask "The Donald' to borrow some of his money that he borrowed from other people and can't pay back and see if "The Donald" lets you play in "his" game.

Senator Kerry now says he would still vote to go to war, but he would go about it "differently". Considering the present debacle that's a "no brainer".

My take is the president simply doesn't know his geography either, got confused again and mistakenly sent the army to "liberate" the wrong place.

He really meant to send them to Saudi Arabia.

After all, most of the 9/11 terrorists and their leader came from there (worked for invading Afghanistan).
They have buckets of oil that can be used to make the gas to fly the planes that became the 9/11 WMD's (there's your excuse).
AND .................we're already there (no more troops are necessary).

Declare victory, do nothing and bring the troops home for a parade.

Everybody wins. No shots are fired. The oil keeps coming. You keep your job................and we move on.

Now how you going to argue with that?

Well we're coming up on Electoral College season again.

That's where you get to cast your vote for a system that really doesn't believe in you or your vote to begin with.

Of course the argument that is advanced is that if we didn't have an Electoral College the candidates would only spend their time in the big states with the heavy concentrations of population and voters. The little states and those in the boondocks would be left to guess if there was even an election going on.

Which I guess explains why the presidential candidates are spending all their time shuttling between the Lilliputian states of Florida, Pennsylvania and Ohio and are ignoring those political giants Rhode Island, Montana and North Dakota.

The US State Department has agreed to send an invitation allowing "foriegn" monitoring of the presidential elections of the oldest and self-proclaimed most democratic democracy on the planet, namely us.

In other words,..........are we admitting we may not be as good as we tell everbody else we think we are.

Going to be interesting to get international reaction to the disenfranchisement of voters after the election by the politically self-serving and archaic Electoral College when it says the people's vote is only a formality and they need to jerry-rig the outcome again for our own protection. These "foriegn" democracies don't have such an advantage. They use a revolutionary approach of letting their citizens votes determine the outcome.....How quaint.

The latest noise on the campaign trail is the "who was the better Vietnam vet".

The Republicans charge Kerry went to Vietnam and "faked" combat for the home video cameras so's he'd have a film record of his exploits when he ran for president thirty some years down the road.

The Democrats charge that Bush never even showed up for the cameras and doesn't want you to know about his exploits thirty some years ago.

And the voters have to decide which one of these two we would want to spend the next four year in a foxhole with.

Ever notice that hot dogs come ten to a package but they only sell the rolls in eight packs.

Why is this? There is no logic too it. The math doesn't add up. What am I supposed to do with the two naked hot dogs? Eat them uncovered. That's why I got the buns in the first place. I like them that way. Should I get another package of hot dog rolls? Now I've tripled my problem with six useless empty hot dog holders.

It is a puzzlement in need of a presidential commission to study it. Perhaps the same folks in the government that figured out how to fund an increase in government expenditures with a decrease in government income while convincing us we've never been better off for can figure out how to cover up ten hot dogs with eight rolls and make us all believe we've got a bakers dozen.

Of all of the inventions in the history of mankind, that single most profound and influential of all mechanisms that defines us for what we are, is universally utilized, serves as our moral guidepost and restraint in times of peril and consternation and proclaims us by our own definition to therefore be "civilized", ........is not the the telephone, not the radio, not the television, not the airplane or the atomic bomb, nor even our institutions of education, government or our religious convictions.

It is the zipper.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but human nature is its father and unintended consequences are always its offspring.

Economics 101

Gone to a lumber yard to buy a 2x4 or sheet of plywood lately? Gone into sticker shock when you saw the pricetag?

It's an economic principle called "supply and demand". Seems the folks that want 'em most got the extra money to pay for them.

And who might that be?

Why it's the US government and they're using your tax dollars to buy lumber to ship to Iraq to replace all the stuff they blew up last year (with your other tax dollars).

Some say that we blew that stuff up so we could control the oil from Iraq and presumably keep the price down...... Been to the gas pump lately?

Does this make any sense?

According to the folks in oil, lumber and the White House it does.

Guess it all depends on where you sit and whether or not you need a 2x4.

America is the only place where the government has spent the last seventy years giving farmers millions of tax dollars not to plant corn, raise pigs or milk cows in order to keep prices high and keep farmers in business for doing nothing.

Why? Because it's hard to get people to go into farming.

Then they come and take the farm after two years for unpaid property taxes.

Leaves you to wonder why we're not all starving.

It's up, it's down, it's coming or going, it's inflated or deflated. It's the economy stupid!

Well, whatever. It's who has the money and who doesn't. Let's look at the who doesn'ts first.

The Have -nots: Government doesn't have the money. The Federal government claims they gave it back to the people in tax breaks to spend during the last two years. They did. Now it's gone so they don't have it and are borrowing more. Then the government spent the money they no longer had anyway so they have even less of what they don't have. In other words, they owe too, and they it owe to.......
The Haves: Who.......................... aren't talking. They don't have to. They already have the money.
