What do you get when you roll a C- minus student with Texas Logic, and a Voodoo Foriegn Policy all in one person? Answer: Iraq.

The first milestone has been reached. One thousand dead GI's in Iraq and climbing. The next plateau will be when we equal the 3,000+ number killed in the twin towers.

Obviously the President thinks this makes Americans safe from terrorism. At least that's the latest spin. Whatever happened to the WMD's?

One is hard pressed to figure out how conquering Iraq makes us safer from Saudi's headquartered in Afghanistan who came here by way of Canada but then it's true that Americans aren't being blown up in America. In fact the terrorists don't even have to come here. We are hand delivering Americans to them via the US military to be blown up in Iraq. Go figure.

The Kerry campaign still can't seem to get away from the Swift Boat controversy so they are going to explore a new strategy and try something that works.

First, they are going to admit that the only reason John Kerry went to Vietnam was to make fake movies of himself in combat for the folks back home. Worked for Ronald Reagan.

Second, he's going to admit that he never showed up for duty half the time and when he did he spent most of that drinking and running around. Worked for George W. Bush.

And third, he's going to confess that he really didn't like the Navy, didn't really want to enlist and wished he'd avoided the draft. Worked for Bill Clinton and Dick Cheney.

If you can't lick 'em, join 'em.

Definition:
Labor Day. A day when everybody gets the day off except the people at Walmart, convenience stores, gas stations, restaurants and most of the other service industries. For them Labor Day means just that. Another day of labor.

Having Hurricane Charlie behind them, Hurricane Frances over them and Hurricane Ivan churning their way in the Atlantic it's no wonder that Florida is sick and tired of Hurricanes. And we're only half way through the Hurricane season. There is an old saying about too much of a good thing being bad, but what about too much of a bad thing.

Of course as soon as the wind and rain is gone the Sunshine State will have to deal with the second plague. The return of the politicians who will try to fix everything. It never rains but what it pours.

Governor "Arnold" from California is at it again. First he sees 'girly men" in the state legislature. Now he sees tanks and communists troops in Austria when he was a child. Not in his childhood and not in his part of Austria according to the historians.
But then he was saying it at the Republican National Convention and they are prepared to believe there is at least a division of Soviet troops still hiding out in Milwaukee.

If he starts seeing Martians or "invisible " aliens we'll have to worry about panicked Republicans and it's probably time to lock up the state treasury and call in the guys in the white coats. Until then it's probably safe to believe he saw it in a Schwarzenneger movie.

All those folks who couldn't wait to get to Florida ........are leaving. Seems the Sunshine State has become the Hurricane State and there doesn't seem to be a future in having a home that periodically picks up and moves on.

It's sort of coming down to whether or not you like your bad weather in northern small doses year round or like it all bunched up in a southern disaster every few years.

Either way there isn't much you can do about the weather but accept the fact it can't be avoided and prepare for the worst and hope for the best and know that this too will pass...... till next time.

As the President prepares to accept his party's nomination all the buzz is about the chaos in the Kerry camp, the slip in the polls and a coming shakeup in the ranks. It's all over the Swift Boat controversy.

The President has said, " John Kerry's military service was more noble than mine". That was a master stroke and smart politics. It surrendered the controversy to John Kerry who now is left to defend his own record on what should be a non-issue.

And the record according to the 527 Swift Boat Ad Team is he went to Vietnam to be another John Kennedy (PT 109), faked heroism to get medals which he then threw away in an anti-war protest and trashed fellow vets on film.

It would seem the Senator has bet all his money on the wrong horse.

The "Party of Protest" continues their convention today. No, that's not the Democrats, it is the Republicans.

They are the party of the five time draft deferred candidate and his duty evading reservist running mate who let everyone else fight the Vietnam War. After all, actions do speak louder than words.

They are the Cabinet of non-veterans (and they are non-veterans for a reason) who are playing at the Iraq War for God and country, the flag and apple pie.

Their motto seems to be: If you can't find the war you want for someone else to fight, start one.

There is an old saying that those that can't do, teach...... Those that can't teach run for office....and those that get elected, lie. By then it's become a necessity.

The Republicans are presenting the President as a strong and decisive leader who has protected you from any further terrorist attacks since 9-11.

That's an effective strategy.

The Democrats counter is "we admit the President is decisive (except for those seven minutes in the Florida classroom on 9-11), but he's always decisively wrong, so who will protect you from the Republicans"?

It seems to be one of those elections where one half sees the glass half full and the other half sees the glass half empty.

Then there is the Nader bunch. They are the troublemakers. Their message is "You don't have a glass".

The Republicans start their 'dog and pony" show today in New York City. Seems a strange place for their convention unless they are hoping to convert the resident Sodomites and Gomorrans to the GOP cause. If so they'll have to wait until the natives are thru with their protests.

In the spirit of hospitality Mayor Blumberg is providing water, a warm welcome and facilities for the protesters and even supplying the buses to New Jersey to tranport them to the protest site. For those who don't want to go, Pennsylvania is an option.

If you're getting a feeling of "deja vou" it's because we all know the intended outcome. George W. Bush is going to be nominated to be Dick Cheney's running mate again. We all have a feeling the glitches in the voting machines are already glitched, the Electoral College is already loaded and ready to circumvent the electorate and the Supreme Court has researched the appropriate statutes to convict the challenger.

The "mental game" is already in motion. All that is left is for the Democrats to once again line up the firing squad for their candidate in a circle. So on to the convention and let the charade begin.
