The latest reports are coming out about education in America and it isn't pretty. Depending on who you talk to, between 25 and 35 percent of kids aren't graduating high school. Among minorities the numbers are even higher and it seems to be passed from generation to generation. In other words, if your parents didn't graduate, chances are you won't either.

The President's "No Child Left Behind" solution, which is based upon giving more tests, works for the 65% that are left, or at least for that portion that can pass the tests. Those that can't are also failures.

Considering that the Education President made it his top priority in 2001 to reform the education system that produced the best economy and most efficient and productive workforce in the world in the 1990's it would appear that his solution to a success is to create a problem that didn't exist before his solution didn't solve it.

Lincoln studied war and finished the Civil War in three and a half years.

Roosevelt studied war and finished World War Two in three and a half years.

Bush says the war was over three years ago and should be finished in the near future, when it is over, which is indefinite, because it will last beyond his presidency and had no end in sight to begin with ...........which in itself sort of explains the problem.

The President can't read, can't add and doesn't know where he is going, when he'll arrive or how to get there.

The Iraqi Civil War seems to be under way. At least if you are a Shiite you've got to believe it is based upon the body count of fellow Shiites.

The government which we thought was elected in December after three elections......... still isn't.

Our government which won't let you see the draped coffins of dead Americans coming home says things are improving.

And our President who started this whole debacle despite strong advice to the contrary, believes the "Victory" he declared on an aircraft carrier three years ago....... is just around the corner.

But then again he's the same guy who wanted to know who was leaking confidential information from the White House to the news media. This week he found out......... it was him.

Is it possible the Emperor has no clothes?

The big debate in Congress these days is over illegal aliens and the difference between the words "amnesty" and "earned citizenship".

Essentially amnesty relieves you of any penalties for coming here illegally and allows you to become an American citizen. "Earned citizenship" does the same thing but makes you pay money to do it. It's sort of like coming here on the "American Plan".

As the big money people already know, 'if you can't steal it, buy it".
After all, that's the American way".

Apparently some 55 year old press secretary at Homeland Security named Doyle has been trying to strike up erotic conversations and romantic interludes with 14 year olds over the Internet. His most recent encounter with a 14 year old girl happened to be a sheriff wearing a badge and he's now in jail.

Add this to the ongoing debacle in New Orleans, the unchecked illegal alien invasion from Mexico on our southern border and the "deer in the headlights" look from the director of the agency and you have to ask the question.......what kind of a fruitcake agency is this?


Appears the Secure Homeland isn't secure from Homeland Security.

According to rumblings at the White House the shakeup of the staff is continueing. Supposedly it's to improve the way things are working and to respond to some criticisms of how the Bush Administration handles things and make "the President" look better.

I'd sooner think it's because the mice have figured out that the ship is sinking, the Captain is lost in a fog and his second in command is armed and dangerous and can't tell the difference between a man, a quail and a mouse, and so it's time to "bug out".

All of which does not bode well for the future. The new replacement novices are going to be led by the old "Know Nothings" who think they know everything while they take the rest of us to Never-Never Land. Not a reassuring picture.

The lights just went out at the Capitol Building in Washington this morning. Nobody seems to know why. That's because the folks that are up there in the Capitol Building don't live or work where the rest of us do or the answer would be obvious.

When we spend more than we have, run our credit into the ground and won't answer our phone, our lights go out too. Sounds to me like somebody needs to pay the bill. Guess who that's going to be?

It used to be called a "smoking gun". Now we have a "smoking memo".

Seems there's a memo out there somewhere that says George the II and the Prime Minister of Great Britain conspired and collaborated to provoke and instigate the latest Iraq War.

Sort of puts a whole new slant on things.

Having blamed the "bad Arabs" for 9-11, it was obvious the baddest Arab of all, namely Saddam Hussein must be to blame. And since we couldn't seem to catch the guy who really was behind it anyway (and still can't) we'd better go after someone that we could catch.

When that excuse failed the President opted for the pre-emptive war argument that to prevent a war we needed to start a war on the pretext of preventing Saddam Hussien from starting a pre-emptive war of his own using his Weapons of Mass Destruction that he didn't have and couldn't deliver if he had them.

When that didn't work the story became that we had gone to war to bring democracy Iraq. So we held a lot of elections without ever getting a government and the Iraqis are now deciding their own version of democracy based on who seems to have the biggest guns.

And now the "smoking memo" seems to indicate that the road to war was "engineered" by the Bush & Blair War Development and Storm Door Corporation long before 9-11 ever occurred. Which just goes to show that you can't trust a politician to come up with one good lie when you need it when three stupid ones will do.

Appears the illegal immigrant issue is this weeks hot button topic. The House of Representatives has passed a reform law that calls for a fence and a return of illegals to the other side of it. That's why massive streetloads of supporters of illegal alien rights are marching in Los Angeles.

The message seems to be "If you don't let us break your laws then there is enough of us to move the border and do it anyway". That's definitely going to create converts..........and increase gun sales.

Meanwhile, the President wants a guest worker program which allows illegals to come here and eventually become citizens. I thought that's what the legal aliens were supposed to be doing.

Curiously, he is also opposed to amnesty but believes the workers that are already here illegally should stay.

Appears he's rewrote the doubletalk dictionary again because that's tantamount to saying, "Legal amnesty is the reward we'll give you for breaking our laws and sneaking into our county but if you play by the rules we might not let you come here."

It just gets curiouser and curiouser. Seems the Christians, namely us, who liberated Afghanistan from the Taliban, gave them a new Constitution and an elected government missed something.

Seems their Constitution provides for religious freedom, providing it is Muslim. It appears they have a fellow who has gone "over the hill" to the Christians and he's up for execution as a heretic. The only way out seems to be to declare him "nuts", which appears to make sense to the Afghans. After all, why would anyone become a Christian unless your elevator didn't go to the top floor.

So anyway, now the rest of us Christians who thought we were going to change the world by sending our troops to Afghanistan have to stop and wonder, "Are they right?"
